Do you know the God who wears snakes around his neck; a tiger skin and is covered in ashes? He is Lord Shiva, who is one of the most popular Gods of India.
Parvathi is the wife of Shiva, and they are considered to be the father and mother of the universe. They have two sons - Ganesha and Karthikeya.
The name Shiva means "Auspicious One" or one who brings good luck. Shiva along with Brahma and Vishnu is responsible for creating, protecting and destroying the universe. Brahma is the creator; Vishnu is the protector and Shiva is the destroyer.
